- Tax free growth: you use after tax dollars to fund your Roth IRA, but then all withdrawals are tax-free and available after five years.
- No age limit for withdrawals or contributions: unlike traditional IRAs, you are not required to take distributions at age 70 ½.
- Contributions: made with after tax dollars. You can contribute up to $5,000 per year or 100% of your earned income, whichever is less. Those 50 years old or better can contribute an additional $1,000 per year as a catch-up feature.
